About the role
As Buying Manager for Prepared Veg & DFNS, you will lead a growing convenience market category through insight, innovation, product development, raw material sourcing, supplier capabilities and trade driving to rival not only supermarkets but on the go food outlets. 

Accountable for a £340m business spanning all Nuts, Seeds, Dried Fruit, Prepared vegetables. This is a high priority, must win role, that blends fast paced commercial delivery with long-term strategic leadership. You will manage and develop the strategy in collaboration with internal & external partners, shaping the future of emerging trends in healthy, convenient meal solutions and Snacking.

You will be responsible for
  • Owning the sales, profit and outperformance. 
  • Delivery of the budget for the area.
  • Building a customer focused, long term category strategy that delivers sustainable growth for the business & drives market out-performance.
  • Understanding our competitors, physical, online and beyond retail. Develop a market winning plan for customers across the short and long term, driving customer loyalty, Quality and innovation ahead of the market. 
  • Finding, developing and managing both branded & OB suppliers, to deliver our customer propositions and our joint business targets whilst ensuring that product quality is achieved & maintained. 
  • Use insight tools to analyse and understand performance issues and opportunities, whilst collaborating with supplier expertise. 
  • Develop and deliver the category strategy, executing a market winning plan.
  • Working with suppliers to build a strong Buy/Move/Grow plan that ensures our products are manufactured, moved & sold in the most efficient way possible.
  • Effectively curating, executing and delivering market leading sell plans that lead the market, offer our Customers a new experience, grow customer numbers, whilst driving forward commercial position.
  • Forecasting and managing budgets effectively.
  • Delivering quantum profit targets, Volume & Sales growth and Market share targets.  
  • Always being cost conscious.
  • Developing and working in a high performing team, giving them the opportunities to be their best.
  • Work cross functionally across Product Development, Technical and Supplier Sourcing teams to ensure we have a brilliant and profitable Tesco brand.
You will need
  • Previous buying experience preferred, ideally as an experienced Buying Manager seeking broader responsibility or accelerated career development.
  • Strong negotiation, communication and supplier management skills, with the ability to build effective grower and supplier relationships.
  • Experience in category management, cross-category delivery and end-to-end NPD, including raw material sourcing.
  • Proven leadership and stakeholder management experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
