WHAT THE JOB IS ABOUT:
Please mind that this role is for fixed-term
- Understanding and evaluation of supplier capability and performance, managing and developing the supplier base of the category
- Setting risk based site management plan, supporting technical audit program, visiting suppliers according to the agreed schedule
- Tracking and closing all non-conformances following technical audits and visits, managing database records appropriately
- Identifying new suppliers/manufacturers, proposing potential production development and/or consolidation in line with own brand strategy
- Managing Ethical Trading in line with policies, following up on completion of corrective action plan (CAP) against any non-conformity indicated
- Supporting tenders, preparing product briefs, evaluating samples, setting, approving and maintaining product specifications in relevant database
- Leading quality market reviews, category sessions, identifying quality benchmarks, proposing range development/quality improvement initiatives
- Working with suppliers on product reviews, new product development, quality improvement, reformulation to strengthen the own brand range
- Completing product developments inc. artwork in cooperation with relevant teams and according to agreed processes and critical path
- Reviewing quality of the product against benchmark and specification, overseeing surveillance testing and working on any non-conformities
- Following up on incidents, enforcement challenges, customer & store complains, any product issue, investigating the root cause and closing CAP
- Cooperating with stakeholders across the business to deliver against business expectations
- Tracking and reporting product and supplier performance, maintaining database relevant to the category
- Supporting teams relevant to the category with technical information, engaging suppliers, playing a key role to achieve CE/Group commitments
- Actively monitoring legislation changes and managing implementation of the change in the category
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Must have:
- Upper-intermediate level of English language (B2)
- Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a baker in a bakery operation
(craft bakery, industrial bakery, or in-store bakery environment). - Strong practical knowledge of bakery production processes, including:
- dough preparation and handling
- fermentation and proofing
- baking technologies and baking curves
- quality evaluation of finished products
- Proven experience working directly in a bakery environment, with daily involvement in production and operational problem-solving.
- Ability to train and coach bakery staff on shop floor level, including:
- practical, hands-on training of bakers
- explanation and implementation of technological procedures
- support during changes (new equipment, new products, seasonal matrix launches, refits, store openings)
- Solid understanding of bakery equipment and capacities, such as ovens, mixers, proofers, trolleys and related infrastructure, and ability to assess suitability for specific production needs.
- Experience with bakery recipes and technological procedures, including:
- adjustment and optimisation of baking programs
- testing and validation of new or modified recipes
- participation in product development and test baking
- Willingness to travel regularly to stores and provide on-site technological support (ad hoc support, refits, new store openings).
- Good communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues of different seniority levels in a practical, respectful and solution-oriented way.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks and make practical decisions based on operational reality.
Nice to have
- Experience with bakery or production-related software/applications
(e.g. management of baking waves, baking programs, digital recipe databases). - Previous involvement in:
- new product development
- raw material testing
- Supplier tastings or selection panels
- technological trials and pilot runs
