About the role

We are looking for a Technology Portfolio Programme Manager to join the Infrastructure Team. This team is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of technology initiatives that support Tesco's vision and strategy across the Group. The role focuses on governance to ensure that the portfolio drives our strategic and business goals efficiently, effectively, and sustainably. The role will work towards standardising the way the portfolio is controlled, ensuring stakeholder buy-in and effective levels of governance are in place.

You will be responsible for
  • Set up and facilitate Programme Governance meetings to approve and manage the delivery of the Portfolio Plan. Ensure a consistent approach to how teams record and monitor all workstream risks, issues, and dependencies, ensuring all are identified and tracked appropriately
  • Work across Infrastructure Teams and with Senior Stakeholders to prepare for and manage Governance Meetings and follow up. Influence, present, and engage with a wide variety of Senior Stakeholders, leveraging your political nous

·       Prepare regular status reports, executive summaries, and presentations to supervise delivery progress. Operate within best-practice portfolio management framework, knowing when to dial up and dial down your approach

  • Be highly effective at identifying and mitigating risk and driving actions accordingly. Ensure that dependencies are effectively managed and call out risks where vital
  • Identify constraints within the portfolio, collaborate with the STPM to evaluate potential solutions, and determine the support required to resolve them.

·       Work with the STPMs to communicate and maintain the consistent set of programmes, workstream, and project management standards, guidance, and templates to be used by the programme team

  • Identify improvements to portfolio management practices and effectively engage with the Senior Leadership Team to make improvements
  • Work with the central technology team, providing updates on Tech Excellence and Strategic objectives
  • Be agile in your approach, adapting to changing business needs
  • Know your stuff and share knowledge and passion

You will need

Portfolio/Programme/Project management experience – both planning and delivery

Strong financial competence / numerical skills

Strong communication and influencing skills

Strong collaboration skills and ability to work alongside more senior stakeholders

Resilience and tenacity

Strong attention to detail

Ability to juggle changing priorities, managing workload effectively
