About the role

We have an outstanding opportunity available to join our team and be a part of a growing culture working collaboratively with Tesco colleagues utilising your expertise skills and experience to deliver outstanding opportunities within Tesco. The Capability Partner will play a key role in partnering with senior stakeholders to develop strategic direction for functional learning. You'll work closely with the other capability partners across the Group to ensure a standardised and consistent approach is applied to all learner audiences. You will be visible, responsive, challenging and effective at building relationships. You'll be an Learning & Development guide and take an 'outside-in' approach, always striving to maintain industry expertise and build a world class capability function.

You will be responsible for
  • Lead all technical training development and delivery for the Maintenance function ensuring training meets the strategic direction set and aligns with the continuous change technology installed across our estate. 
  • Champion the core learning offer for colleagues, managers and leaders, influencing the business to adopt the core offer and ensure a seamless learning experience for all colleagues within their function. 
  • Collaborate with other capability partners in the Group Capability team on business wide technical learning offerings to ensure a consistent approach is taken across all learning products and platforms. 
  • You are the face of our new operating model and hold the business to account, ensuring we remove duplication and drive learner consistency. 
  • You'll contribute to establishing a world class training offer, continuously striving to bring outside- in thinking and are passionate about ensuring the learner experience is at the heart of what you do. 
  • Navigate and influence a variety of stakeholders to gain buy in and sponsorship for your functional capability plan. 
  • Contributing to Governance and decision making (build, buy, stop), delivering the key things that matter most.
  • Sourcing and using data to make informed decisions around priorities and focus, communicating with and engaging my stakeholders on what is and is not possible based on prioritisation 
  • Curating external learning resources to compliment in house learning design. 
  • Following the procurement policy to source external strategic partners that align to and support our strategic plan and priorities 
  • Supplement the learning offer with professional accreditations, access to formal education and qualifications plus exposure to industry bodies, events and resources.
You will need
  • A Learning & Development or Teaching qualification 
  • Setting function wide strategies and gaining engagement, buy-in and sign off for these 
  • Capability building, design and delivery including curating learning resources for audiences across a National scale
  • Strong learning design across a variety of formats and levels - virtual, blended, online 
  • Proven understanding of diversity and inclusion challenges and opportunities 
  • Demonstrable knowledge of learning and development interventions and providers
  • Strong network of learning specialists to draw on external best practice 
  • Senior stakeholder management, in particular building trusted relationships with a diverse group of international stakeholders
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of latest learning trends and how people learn
  • Ability to think beyond the here and now - connecting learning to the wider business context.
