You will be responsible for
Job Summary:
Lead the financial control team for Tesco entities worldwide ensuring that everything we do is consistent with external & internal 
guidelines whilst pushing for continuous improvement that delivers control, efficiency & service. 
This role is to lead IFRS accounting and reporting COE (Centre of Excellence) for Tesco Finance function within TBS
In this job, I’m accountable for:
Following our Business Code of Conduct and always acting with integrity and due diligence and have these specific risk responsibilities: 
- Overall responsibility for the day-to-day IFRS a/c and reporting COE operations of TESCO group entities (for agreed scope), in 
compliance with applicable IFRS and TGAP standards. (Example - IFRS16 - lease accounting, IAS36 - Impairment of Assets, IFRS2 - 
Share based payments etc.) 
 - Lead the month-end close process and manage the consolidation into the parent company, ensuring consolidated results are 
submitted to UK Group finance in line with strict timelines and in compliance with the IFRS and TGAP standards 
- Review and approve journal entries of with assigned limit and account reconciliations 
 - Ensure the Key Financial controls/ SOX Controls  are well documented, up to date, appropriate and are always implemented, 
 - Ensure compliance with statutory financial regulations 
 - Liaise and work closely with UK Group finance to ensure full transparency, timely updates of issues and consistency of reporting 
 - Liaise with the Group statutory auditors for the half-year review, year-end audit and statutory accounts preparation for the all entities 
as appropriate, providing the information requested on a timely basis  
 - Lead and develop staff to maintain high levels of morale, motivation and productivity, and ensure the team has appropriate levels of 
skills, resources and capacity to function effectively in a listed company environment 
- Developing and leading a high performing team, creating an environment for success by setting direction and coaching them to 
succeed through inspiring conversations every day. (Refer to the expectations of a manager at Tesco- the minimum standards) 
- Promoting a culture of CI within their teams to drive operational improvements 
- Accountable for achieving team's objectives, stakeholder management and escalation management

Professional financial qualification  
Previous experience as a multi-national financial controller 
Strong technical understanding and working experience of IFRS 
Logical thinker, but independent and pro-active in nature

Experience of managing a remote, cross-cultural team 
Process management and improvement 
Strong technical understanding and working experience of IFRS 
Familiar with financial systems 
and other GAAP
