About the role
As a System Engineer 2, you are in an individual contributor role at Tesco. At this level, your
impact reaches across a team, and you provide technical leadership of medium to large features.
You will play a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting network and infrastructure
solutions that improve service delivery and business operations. You’ll work with a high degree of
technical expertise across networking, automation, and security, contributing to a technology
roadmap that directly supports Tesco’s mission to redefine convenience and customer

You will be responsible for
Ability to work with Cloud (IaaS & PaaS), Cloud technologies, Self-servicing, Self-healing.
• Have good exposure to CI/CD & Build Management tools like Jenkins; Azure
DevOps; GitHub Actions Maven;Gradle and etc
• Administration experience on Tools like Jenkins; Azure DevOps; and GitHub
Enterprise Server. Hashicorp Vault Enterprise; Sonatype Nexus
Repository/Artifactory; Sonarqube and Chef.
• Deployment and provisioning tools (Chef/Ansible/Puppet/Terraform)
• Good hands-on knowledge of automation scripting Python; Shell; Ruby; etc
• Version Control for Source Code Management (SCM) tool: GIT/Bitbucket etc
• Expertise in Linux-based systems and managing security systems; Linux file system
permission; kernelunderstanding etc
• Container Orchestration tool: Kubernetes; Writing Docker file; Docker compose
• Indepth knowledge of Kubernetes administration, Experience with managed
services (AKS, EKS, GKE) and self-hosted clusters.
• Understanding of Public/Private/Hybrid cloud: VMware; Microsoft Azure,
OpenStack.
• Extensive experience with cloud services; elastic capacity administration; and
cloud deployment and migration.
• Good to know tools like Splunk; and New Relic.

• Excellent in creating new and improved existing workflows within the agile software
development lifecycle.
• Familiar with the incident and change management process.
• Ability to effectively prioritize work with fast-changing requirements.
• Troubleshoot and debug infrastructure; Network; and operating system issues.
• Resolve complex issues in scenarios like resource consumption; server
performance; backup strategy; Scaling.
• Investigate and perform Root Cause Analysis on users reported issues and provide
a workaround before implementing a final fix.
• Monitor servers and applications to ensure the smooth running of IT Architecture
(Applications; Services; Schedulers; Server Performance; etc)
• Metrics management, outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong Bash/Ansible Playbook Scripting experience on Red Hat Linux environment
and ability to identify opportunities for automation of Ops services.
• Experience with DevSecOps practices.
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR).
• Vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Snyk, Aqua, Trivy).
• Contribution to internal documentation, runbooks, and knowledge bases.
• Understanding of Concepts like SLIs, SLOs, SLAs.
• Experience with incident response, postmortems, and chaos engineering.
• Experience with RDS, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or NoSQL systems
• Working experience in a matrix organization
• Basic understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, data lake architecture, and stream
processing (e.g., Kafka, Flink).
