The Hosting System Engineer will report to the Data Centre Operations Manager within the Infrastructure Services team, and is responsible for the Computer Equipment Room (CERs) in Shire Park and UKROI including, Dundee, Slough, London, Dublin, Waterford as well as POPs in London. Additionally, some Project work relating to the main Data Centres in London.
The Hosting System Engineer plays a key role in ensuring project and BAU change initiatives meet objectives in a safe, non-business impacting manner into the Hosting facilities, in a timely manner. This role focuses on the technical elements of all the CERs listed above and the technology that is hosted within them. This role primarily related to the physical technical hardware and the Data Centre environment.

· Maintain the day to day operational state of the Computer Equipment Rooms (CERs) and POP environments (regular reports and escalation of issues as deemed necessary) across the UK/ROI estate
· Develop and maintain the strategy for the Hosting team and its continual improvement
· Coordinate Engineering resources and 3rd Parties working in the sites
· Work to drive faster adoption, higher ultimate utilisation of and proficiency of the CER facilities
· Implement and maintain the Technology Hosting Operational Model including Standards.
· Prepare plans for development and installation of hosting assets according to present and future requirements
· Monitor all hardware products and ensure compliance to the Hosting Operating Model standards and systems
· Manage the relationship, service and contract with the 3rd party POPs provider
· Work with other DC Managers globally to ensure a consistent Operating Model is applied and maintained with POPs and CERs
· Work closely with other Technology teams including within Infrastructure to understand and influence decisions dependent on Hosting services
· Monitor and report back on key measures to show operational status of proficiency of the CER facilities
· Access management and escorting of visitors into CERs at Shire Park campus.
· Perform troubleshooting to identify issues and assist in timely resolution of same
· Support the CERs at all times which may include out of hours onsite support of visitors or troubleshooting.
· Ensure adherence to all established guidelines and management practices for employees including legislation
· Coordinate with various departments and perform integration of critical systems into infrastructure
· Coordinate with Technology enhancement and business teams and develop strategies to ensure achievement of hosting optimum capacity with regard to all Hosting sites limitations
· Maintain expert knowledge on service mapping for knowledge of various critical systems
· Ensure client satisfaction and provide optimal level of customer services for various departments
· Maintain expert knowledge on all Hosting processes and industry standards
· Conduct impact analysis, assess change readiness and identify key stakeholders
· Follow change management process including completing change management risk assessments for activities within the POPs and CERs
· Run the weekly Change Management meetings for Hosting team, logging and approving changes within prescribed guidelines
· Identify, analyse and prepare risk mitigation tactics and manage anticipated resistance
· Coordinate efforts with other specialists, both internal and external
· Project manage ad hoc technology / data centre related projects.
· Able to demonstrate the ability to undertake the above responsibilities
· Strong experience around service delivery and incident management
· Experience and knowledge of Hosting management principles, methodologies and tools

· Basic understanding of Data Centre and Tech Room M&E (generators, UPS etc) for the purpose of assessing risk to the environment during maintenance and outages.
· Familiarity with ASHRAE environmental standards and guidelines
· Experience of running projects end-to-end
· An understanding of Tesco and it’s associated companies and regions in which it operates
· ITIL Qualified or expert knowledge of ITIL disciplines
· A project Management qualification (PMP, Prince2 or recognised project manamgment format)
