About the role
This leadership role sits within the Network Operations team, part of the Tesco Network Infrastructure Engineering function. Systems Engineering Managers in this role are responsible for leading a team of highly skilled engineers, overseeing the strategy, support delivery, and lifecycle management of Network Infrastructure. They should be having knowledge of latest technology trends, including AIOPS, and should work with all Infrastructure & Applications teams while delivering the Network Operations support scope.

You will be responsible for
Lead, develop, and coach a team of Network Engineers, supporting their growth, technical delivery, and wellbeing. • Set clear objectives, priorities, and direction for the team aligned to the Network technology and Operations strategy. • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, inclusion, and continuous improvement. • Support hiring, onboarding, and career progression across the Network Operations domain. • Provide technical direction and governance across Network Infrastructure and services, ensuring alignment to architectural standards and security best practices. • Life cycle management of all Network Infrastructure Components and Tools • Keep the technical skills up to date and keep track of new technologies/products relevant in Network Operations domain • Support building AIOPS Capability within Network Operations.
• Proven experience managing technical teams within Network infrastructure domains in large, complex environments. • Excellent communication and influencing skills across technical and senior business stakeholders. • Strong incident management skills, especially in high-severity/production-impacting events, providing escalation support (including off business hours) as needed. • Ability to lead cross-functional teams (Network, SRE, Automation, Platform teams). • Strong coaching capability for upskilling teams • Ability to communicate technical concepts to senior leadership, customers, and non-technical stakeholders.
You will need
Strong understanding of enterprise network architecture (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, Data Center
networks, Routing & Switching).
• Working knowledge of wireless technologies (802.11a/b/g/n /ac /ax) and Cloud wireless
solutions (Juniper Mist, Aruba)
• Working Knowledge in Zscaler Filtering/Proxy and related services
• Thorough understanding of DDI Infrastructure (DNS, DHCP and IPAM)
• Working knowledge with external DNS providers
• Working experience in managing IOT devices
• Working experience in supporting Certificate Management Solutions (PKI Infrastructure/Service)
• Strong understanding of Network Security concepts (Firewall, Proxy, IDS/IPS, DDoS, WAF) and
experience in working on security incidents.
