About the role

The Architecture & Solution Design Chapter has ownership of our current and target Architecture, ensuring we are maximising the use of existing platforms and ensuring our architecture is fit for purpose now and in the future.  

This includes governance of our Architecture & Designs across the business and Architecture Guild including the 4 corners of Architecture: Technical, Business, Software and Data.  

As a Tribe Architect, you will be a technology leader, working with the Tribe Leads as part of the Tribe technology leadership team, to lead the formulation and evolution of our technology and data strategy, with accountability for the current and target architecture of the Tribe, aligned to the Tesco Mobile business strategy, delivering a forward thinking architecture that is fit for our future. 

This role has a wide technical footprint from day-to-day data architecture support for the tribe through to leading on strategic key technology programmes.

You will be responsible for

Working within our Architecture Community and working closely with Tribe Technology Leads, you will define and own our Technology and Data Architecture strategy, championing the changes needed to drive us towards our Target Architecture. 

Work with squads within the tribe and our Architecture & Solution Design Chapter to ensure we design flexible, efficient and secure solutions aligned with our Architecture Guiderails and frameworks 

Take ownership to ensure that our Architecture documentation is updated and maintained. 

Own our Architecture principles, patterns and other standards to enforce alignment and consistency across all of our solutions. 

Act as the approver for design decisions within your tribe/area of influence 

As required, provide support for initiatives with technical, data and/or architectural challenges  

Support the RFI/P/Q process offering end-to-end architecture & design considerations as early as possible

Skills / Experience 

You should be a subject matter expert in your field and have experience of developing and implementing methods and standards in Enterprise Architecture, with a proven track record of successful project deliveries and transformational programmes. 

You must have broad enterprise architecture knowledge based on practical experience gained working in a systems development environment, working on high profile, large scale applications both on-prem and in the cloud. 

You will need

• Extensive experience in an architectural, design and/or Enterprise architecture role within the Telco or Retail industries 

• Broad experience of systems including OSS/BSS, eCommerce, CRM, APIs, Real Time Charging, Mobile Networks, retail and supply chain 

• Experience of Data oriented architecture and associated platforms 

• Confident and concise communicator – comfortable discussing complex issues with technical and non-technical audiences alike, able to influence key decision makers 

• Proven track record of embedding Architecture principles and shaping technology and/or data strategy strategy 

• Mindset and behaviours; collaborative, innovative based on experimenting and data driven decisions, embraces change and agile values and principles, willingness to roll up your sleeves and work outside your comfort zone
