As a Lead Operations Development Manager, you’ll turn strategy into action by delivering plans effectively and working collaboratively with a wide range of functions and colleagues. You’ll lead projects and people, share your expertise, and help set the standard for the team while fostering a culture of inclusion and excellence.

- Follow Tesco’s project management principles, including stakeholder engagement, project setup and organisation, budget management, and delivering cost savings and customer experience improvements.
- Define projects clearly from the start, keeping them on track and within scope.
- Allocate resources effectively, engaging subject matter experts and motivating them to contribute to successful delivery.
- Manage risks and issues, and lead a clear governance process.
- Handle interdependencies and facilitate open dialogue, working together to deliver outcomes that benefit customers, colleagues, and the planet.
- Design and implement clear plans, partnering with people and communications teams when needed.
- Monitor progress and keep stakeholders informed, including business leaders, on key deliverables.
- Inspire and engage others to achieve great results, making customers and colleagues feel valued.
- Share your knowledge and enthusiasm, helping make Tesco a great place to work and shop.
- Take ownership of processes and systems, ensuring they are efficient and effective, and quickly finding simple solutions to challenges.
- Champion technology and digital innovation, making sure it’s part of key decisions.
- Be flexible in your approach, managing multiple projects across Online to improve the shopping experience and simplify operations.
- Close projects effectively, conducting post-implementation reviews, sharing lessons learned, and driving continuous improvement.
- Lead and develop a team of Operations Development Managers, supporting their growth and success.
Operation skills relevant for this job:
- Knowledge of Online business models and economics, supply chain and store processes, commercial income lines and product economics
- Gather and interpret customer insight
- Experience in leading a and developing people, encouraging great performance
- Advanced project/programme management skills with proven experience of executing full projects through full lifecycle
- Strong strategic thinking and proposition development skills and a analytical mindset with problem-solving ability
- Ability to bridge between strategic thinking and pragmatic implementation
- Excellent partnership skills, being a clear and engaging communicator, both written and verbal
- Ability to influence and build relationships at all levels
- Experience in using advanced project management methodologies
Experience relevant for this job:
- Retail operations
- End-to-end Project Management experience including handling complex stakeholder networks
- Experience in delivering change projects
- Budget management and commercial acumen
- Curious mindset with a focus on growth and learning
- Proven track record in joint business planning and delivering cross-functional initiatives from concept to rollout
- Ability to manage broad stakeholder relationships, including senior executives, and build networks beyond your immediate team
- Experience in strategy development, business growth, and corporate initiatives within an Online/Retail context
- Skilled in assessing business opportunities and creating business cases
- Project management qualification e.g., Six Sigma, APM
