About the role

As the Product Manager for Recommendations, you will guide core Machine Learning/AI and Data Science capabilities from creation through to execution. You will focus on building data driven features at scale providing relevant and personalised products to our users, impacting core business and customers metrics.

You will be part of the Discovery and Personalisation product team, focusing on how recommendations can complement search in enabling product discovery for customers. You will be working closely with search domain to help drive their outcomes through Recommendations.

You will be responsible for managing the product vision, strategy and development for a suite of recommendation services (APIs) and associated customer experiences that are key to solving problems related to how Tesco customers find, discover and build their baskets, across all verticals and Tesco markets.

You will be responsible for

  • Whilst specific responsibilities will be dependent upon the changing needs of the Tesco business, the following provides an overview of the role’s key responsibilities and measures;
  • Defining and building high-scale, low latency recommendation services, including definition and tuning of algorithmic parameters to drive best customer and business outcomes
  • A skilled practitioner of Product Management, you will own, manage and prioritise a quantitative focused backlog to deliver meaningful improvements across a wide range of Tesco customer touchpoints, using agreed OKR’s and KPI’s for coverage, relevance and performance
  • Leading the development plans: contributing towards the recommendations strategy, defining and prioritising business needs and working with the different business units to ensure their plans are integrated.
  • Work with other Product Managers, stakeholders, Data Science and the Engineering teams to deliver the recommendations roadmap using agile methodologies: prioritising requirements, answering development questions and resolving issues, always putting the customer first.
You will need
  • Highly numerate and comfortable working with data

  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, writing effective user stories & acceptance criteria
  • Understanding of User Research/ Design Thinking concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A methodical/ analytical approach and great problem-solving skills
  • Strong decision making and prioritization skills, especially when multiple trade-offs are involved
