We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Software Development Manager to lead our Access Management Development team and act as a visionary leader in this space. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of product development, infrastructure, and IAM technologies, along with proven leadership capabilities and a consistent track record of delivering secure, scalable solutions.
This role requires close collaboration with IAM Operations and Product Management teams to ensure the integrity, reliability, and security of systems and data.
• Lead and manage a high-performing team of backend and UI developers, providing mentorship and guidance to foster a culture of excellence.
• Contribute to the development of IAM platform strategies, architectures, and roadmaps aligned with business objectives and security requirements.
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of complex IAM solutions, including authentication, authorization, identity governance, and access control mechanisms.
• Build and maintain robust IAM platforms aligned with modern engineering best practices, ensuring scalability, resilience, and reliability.
• Take ownership of issues and barriers in the rollout of new solutions, driving them to resolution through technical expertise and cross-team collaboration.
• Partner with Product Management to define platform roadmaps, OKRs, and prioritization.
• Collaborate closely with the IAM Security Controls team to understand and address pain points in their day-to-day operations.
• Monitor and evaluate emerging IAM and product development technologies and trends, recommending adoption where appropriate.
• Engage with external vendors and partners to ensure high-quality service delivery and effective support.
• Drive continuous improvement of IAM processes, tools, and practices to enhance security, user experience, and operational efficiency.
• Respond to identity and access-related security incidents and lead efforts to resolve them promptly and effectively.
• Influence the organization’s technology direction toward adopting Zero Trust principles and identity-based authentication frameworks.
• Mentor developers and system engineers in technical skills, best practices, and career development.

You will be responsible for
As Software Development Manager Engineering at Tesco, I am responsible for define and execute the technical strategy and design of Identity and Access Management solutions, which underpins the security and the overall defence capability of Tesco. This includes leadership for a team of Developers and System Engineers, covering software and system development of IAM technologies and tools related to identity lifecycle, identity & Access governance, privileged access management, and overall access management.
I work in an agile manner, responding to the changing threat landscape, and working closely with Product and Programme Management accomplish the product and programme objectives with appropriate scalability, availability, operability, cost and usability.
I am seasoned Manager and have great understanding and knowledge of Cyber Security practices, and dynamic professional, will efficiently collaborating with other stakeholders to remove any barrier to the execution for system and team.
You will need
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in IT and full-stack software development, including at least 4 years leading product development teams, ideally within the security domain.
• Strong software engineering background with expertise in Java and preferably React.js, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and Azure cloud services, along with hands-on experience in architecture, design, and development of in-house solutions, preferably IAM systems.
• Proven experience in enhancing and optimizing DevOps practices across both on-premises and cloud platforms.
• Experience leveraging AI technologies to drive product innovation and process automation.
• Understanding of IAM concepts and technologies, including vaulting, SSO, MFA, LDAP, access management, and identity governance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of making sound decisions under pressure.
• Deep understanding of IT infrastructure components such as network perimeter, domain controllers, vSphere, Kubernetes, and cloud environments.
• Demonstrated experience in improving system performance and resiliency through the effective use of modern technologies and DevOps methodologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
