As a Lead Operations Development Manager, you will shape the strategic direction of our Online Grocery Home Shopping Range proposition, translating vision into action through strong execution and collaboration. Leading a team of Operations Development Managers, you will work closely with senior leaders across Online, Commercial, Product and Technology to deliver improvements that enhance customer perception, strengthen our online proposition and support key business objectives


This is a highly influential role where you'll combine strategic thinking with operational excellence, driving change across a complex and fast-moving environment. You'll act as a trusted subject matter expert, champion best practice and create the conditions for your team to thrive, fostering a culture of high performance, innovation and continuous improvement.

  • Defining and evolving the strategic direction for Tesco's Online Grocery Home Shopping Range proposition, ensuring it continues to meet customer needs and business priorities.
  • Owning and improving customer perception of our online grocery range, identifying opportunities to enhance the customer experience and drive engagement.
  • Developing and delivering range strategies that balance customer expectations, commercial objectives and operational considerations.
  • Leading, coaching and developing a team of Operations Development Managers, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture.
  • Partnering with the Digital Leadership Team to shape priorities and align range initiatives with wider Online strategic objectives.
  • Working closely with Commercial, Product and Technology teams to identify, prioritise and deliver improvements to the Online proposition.
  • Leveraging customer insight, market trends and performance data to inform decision-making, prioritisation and strategic recommendations.
  • Leading complex cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives from concept through to implementation, adoption and benefit realisation.
  • Ensuring effective project governance, stakeholder management, risk management and delivery planning in line with Tesco ways of working.
  • Managing dependencies, risks and trade-offs across multiple teams, programmes and priorities.
  • Creating and executing robust implementation plans that deliver measurable customer and business outcomes.
  • Monitoring progress against objectives and providing clear updates, insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
  • Identifying opportunities to simplify processes, improve operational effectiveness and enhance the end-to-end Online customer experience.
  • Acting as the subject matter expert for Online Grocery Range, representing the function in senior leadership forums and influencing strategic decision-making across the business.

  • Experience in Online retail, eCommerce, digital operations or customer proposition roles.
  • Strong strategic thinking, proposition development and customer focus.
  • Ability to use customer insight, data and commercial awareness to inform decisions.
  • Experience leading, developing and managing high-performing teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management, influencing and communication skills, including engagement with senior leaders.
  • Experience delivering strategic change, programmes and cross-functional projects in a complex environment.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with practical implementation and delivery.
  • Experience developing business cases, recommendations and plans that drive measurable outcomes
